This was our ride for three weeks - a Toyota Four-Runner.
We were hoping for something more jeep-like and a little smaller. However, this was the perfect vehicle for us. We were very comfortable and it handled every kind of terrain and driving that we (by that I mean, Tom) put it through. We trashed it - so much so, that we shook out the rugs and were glad for rain to rinse it off before we returned it.
Some of the signs we encountered - don't see these too much in upstate New York.

This was an adobe style McDonalds in Palm Springs. Tom had to take a picture. The drive-thru on the other side had a pergola - looked pretty cool.
We saw more Walmart's and McDonalds that were actually attractive and in beautiful settings.
These signs fall under the "disturbing" category.
However, we never saw evidence of mountain lions - but we did see lots of kids running ahead or behind and oblivious parents. I couldn't help but think how easily they could be easily picked off.
I do not want my grandchildren to visit these areas.
We did see evidence of bobcats and fox - but we were assured that they would avoid us - I'm good with that!
