Its located in the Chihuahuan Desert region of southeastern New Mexico. A large dam across the Pecos River creates Brantley Lake. Its a good size and people fish and boat. Its a lake in the middle of the dessert. No trees to speak of, bamboo-like bushes grow along the edge of the water. The locals hang out at a pull-off along the river where the water from the river goes under the road through several large culverts. Some of the daring boys surf and slide through the tunnels.
Was a beautiful sunset - thunderstorms were off in the distance and the setting sun made really cool colors in the clouds.
