Newport Beach California

The windstorm that we drove through also hit Newport Beach.  They had front end loaders on the ocean front road, parking lots and boardwalk cleaning up several feet of sand - kind of reminded you of snow removal.

Newport Beach was really cool - the water is so clear.  There were lots of surfers with wet suits.

Very pretty houses with lots of pretty flowers.  Must be nice to have so much sunshine all the time.

Have you ever seen anyone on a Segway ... other than on TV - we saw them going up and down the sidewalk all along the ocean.

Then we headed to Laguna Beach to check that out.

The water temp was 56.

The waves were really big, and clear.  The water was a beautiful blue.

There were a bunch of kids out on boards that were a cross between a surf board and skim board.

They were really cool to watch - looked like a lot of work - but they were having fun.

We relaxed for a little while - then dinner at a cool open air restaurant on the main strip - chilean sea bass - delicious.

Aren't these houses cool????

They don't have any yards to speak of ... but I guess with the ocean so close ... who needs to bother with keeping up a yard.

Tomorrow .... off to Vegas to get ready for Jenny and Joey.
