Doesn't this look familiar.
Went to Walmart - got some tools - called around and found the spring - Tom went to work and we were on the road at 5:00.
The guy never called back ... PAINFUL!!!
The area from New Mexico to Texas is pretty flat ... cool area for lightening storms ... and some were predicted ...
Don't these clouds look ominous???
Directly behind us was sunshine and blue clouds.
There was a cool rainbow.
Here's the left side...
See how the sky gets clear to the right.
The rainbow stayed all the way until the sun set behind us.
The lightening was mostly off to the south but some was in front of us. We pulled off at an exit to watch the lightening. The top of the sky was all gray and you could see three storms come down from the clouds. The lightening would go all across the top and then sometimes it would fork down into the storms. It was really neat to watch. Where we were it was just windy and sprinkling.
We drove until about 1 in the morning and pulled into a rest area somewhere in Texas.
Next was Oklahoma - the countryside started to change ... more green and trees and humidity ... haven't felt that for weeks. I think I like the dry better.
Then Missouri ... and the truck is sounding funny ... engine light blinks ... pull over in rest area ... smells like gas ... won't start ... not again ...
Its 6:30 ... do we get towed now and spend the night where???? or do we spend the night in the rest area and get towed in the morning????
Where should we get towed to??? Ford????
Get towed now ... sleep in lot ... trucks gets looked at first thing in the morning!!!!!
I was expecting a bigger tow truck ...
They had to go under the truck to disconnect something ... the one guy was just a skinny little thing and he would lie very flat when the other guy would lift the truck up and down and it would jerk back and forth ... tried not to think about it ...
But they got it done and we rode in the tow truck to their shop ... and camped for the night ...
Here's our spot for the night.
It was actually pretty quiet - they hooked us up with electric and warned us about the trains that come through on the other side of the building.
It wasn't a bad night ... other than wondering what was going to be wrong with the truck ...
But they are working on it now and it looks like something wrong with number 8 spark plug injector something or other and hopefully we will be hooked up soon.
If not ... there's always the bikes ...
